I am Kaushik
I am a father, a computer science engineer, an ex-footballer, a husband, a son, and an elder brother.
For as long as I can remember, I have been constantly intrigued by computers and the endless possibilities they offer. I don’t exactly recall how I fell in love with football, but I suspect the game simply grew on me over time; the more I played, the more attached I became to it. Unlike football, computers have always been a layered arena where you can learn something new, even after decades of experience.
I believe both my intrigue for computers and my love for football stemmed from my father. He was a footballer himself, and despite his extremely busy schedules, he always made time to watch me practice. I eagerly anticipated the drive home with him, a stark contrast to my usual bicycle rides. His guidance focused primarily on my approach to the game, not my technique. The football field—as anyone who plays knows—tests not just your skills but, more importantly, your character. It teaches endurance, resilience, humility, perseverance, time management, responsibility, respect, and leadership. His advice, especially after losses, always centered on my approach: "You cannot give up until the coach stops the game," or "The football itself will never cause injuries," or "If you think you will get injured, most likely you will."
My fascination with computers began with a birthday gift: an Atari 2600. Pac-Man, Digger, Prince of Persia—I was instantly hooked. Later, my first floppy disk presented a fascinating challenge: optimizing 1 MB of space. It was then, at age 12, that I decided to pursue a career in computers. I started programming in BASIC, wrote a few lines of code, and instinctively knew this was my calling. The advancements in the field over the past three decades have both vindicated and amazed me.
Though I lost him when I was only 14, my father's influence remains. Today, as I tinker with IoT and robotics and hobby apps in my free time, I can't help but wonder what impressions I'm leaving on my daughter.
This description, however, doesn't fully capture who I am; it's an oversimplification. I'm also, I think, a bit of an introvert—a trait that has quietly developed over the years. It's fascinating to reflect on this change from my boisterous childhood. Also my wife ensures that I remain grounded. She is my leveller.
This journey of self-discovery underscores the complexity and multifaceted nature of the human experience. It's a constant process of understanding our passions and personalities, a journey without a definitive endpoint. The ongoing exploration itself is perhaps the most rewarding aspect, shaping me into the person I am today and continually evolving into the person I aspire to be. The legacy I leave behind, whether in the technological world or in the lives of my family, is a reflection of this continuous evolution. I hope to create value to those around me as I continue to evolve.
